Member Spotlight - Indigo Ink

Tell us about your company and/or your products.

Here’s our official pitch…

Imagine a high-performance pit crew at work in a space engineering lab inside your favorite craft microbrewery... producing print. That's us.

Indigo Ink is a 21-year-old digital printing company providing the latest high-performance services with environmental impact always in mind.  Through technological advances in digital printing, Indigo Ink offers a variety of niche capabilities, including digital white ink printing, foil stamping and metallic ink, among other more traditional printing capabilities.  We print everything from greeting cards, stationery, envelopes, and business cards, to catalogs, brochures and marketing materials.

Our organizational mission can be summed up in three statements:

  1. We are print craftspeople …we totally geek out over this stuff!
  2. We never stop moving forward…always improving.
  3. We care deeply about our team, our community, and the environment.

What’s your role at your company?

I am one of the co-founders, co-owners and Matt and I both run the company as co-CEOs.  We both wear more hats than we should, but in a nutshell, Matt is more sales focused and I am more involved in the back end of the business along with strategy, marketing and creative.

Why did you become a GCA member and tell us about your GCA experience so far.

For some reason it never occurred to us until some of our clients asked if we were members.  Since we had been printing for stationers and greeting card makers for years, it made perfect sense to get more involved with the GCA so we could better understand the industry and see how we could better serve our clients.  The GCA has certainly delivered on this beyond our expectations.  We’ve been a part of other trade organizations and this one, by far, has been the most beneficial and enjoyable.

What inspired you to get involved in the greeting card industry?

We’ve been printing for stationers and greeting card makers for over 20 years.  However, early on, it was only a small part of our business.  Over the years our company has evolved into specializing in printing for creative small businesses, and in particular, greeting card makers and stationers.  One of the main reasons for this shift is because this is the kind of work we most enjoy doing.  We are creatives ourselves, so we like to work with clients who are creating beautiful art and meaningful work.  It makes the work more meaningful for our entire team.

What's something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I’m a science and a map nerd…used to be a Geographer for the US Census Bureau 20 years ago. …a very different career than the creative entrepreneur I’ve become.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

It has been such a joy getting to know the GCA members.  Matt and I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming workshop and retreat!
