Tell us about your company and/or your products.
Universal Presentation Concepts, or UPC for short, is a full-service manufacturer and designer of bespoke retail displays. We maintain a catalog of staple fixtures from inline, spinner, and wall racks to ensure the GCA and the entire greeting card community always have ready access to merchandising options. We can also work with our partners to produce custom displays that showcase their brand. We also offer drop shipping to make things even easier.
What’s your role at your company?
I have the privilege of serving as one of UPC’s Account Managers. It is a fantastic job. I get to be the go-between our veteran craftsmen, skilled engineers, brilliant artists, and, of course, passionate clients. There is never a dull moment. I help our partners execute their vision for bringing their brand to the public, watching that vision manifest from a pile of raw goods into a completed fixture and shepherding them out into the world. While I may not be saving lives, it is gratifying to know that my work is contributing to folks finding success.
Why did you become a GCA member and tell us about your GCA experience so far.
How could we not be? The GCA is the heart of the industry. I may be new but have been welcomed at every turn.
What inspired you to get involved in the greeting card industry?
It seems that the more ways we have to connect and communicate online, the less we are actually connecting with the people that matter in our lives. Our feeds get clogged with influencers and advertisements and less about everyday life and real connections. Sending someone a card with a handwritten note is so much more tangible and shows genuine compassion. Being part of an industry that helps bring people together and build connections is a delight.
What's something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I do not make any attempt to hide it, but I am a tried-and-true RPG nerd. Think of games like Dungeon & Dragons, where friends and family come together to tell incredible stories. From the excitement of rolling dice to see if the dragon catches us sneaking through its lair to designing a custom figurine to make on my resin printer and then painting up to bring a character to life on the tabletop.
