Tell us about your company and/or your products.
Tree‑Free Greetings is a mission-driven greeting card company that combines thoughtful design with environmental responsibility. Our products are made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper, printed with vegetable-based inks, and manufactured using solar energy, offering retailers and consumers a meaningful, sustainable alternative.
Our cards are vibrantly printed inside and out, paired with our signature matching “ARTvelopes,” creating a distinctive and elevated presentation that stands out at retail. In 2024, we proudly became an Employee Owned Company, reinforcing our commitment to both our team and our long-term mission.
In addition to our core line, we launched a Print on Demand program in 2023, enabling us to print and ship greeting cards directly to wholesale customers on behalf of other greeting card companies, expanding our capabilities as a full-service partner in the industry.
What’s your role at your company?
Vice President
Why did you become a GCA member and tell us about your GCA experience so far.
I joined the GCA because I’ve been in the greeting card industry for many years and really value being connected to others who understand it. It’s been helpful to have a group where I can share ideas, talk through challenges, celebrate wins, and build new partnerships along the way. I’ve been to 3 conferences so far and can’t believe that I am chairing the conference in Louisville this year!!
What inspired you to get involved in the greeting card industry?
I started working in my aunt’s retail shop when I was just 10 years old. It was set in an old Victorian home with 17 rooms, each with its own unique theme, and I absolutely loved being there. I quickly discovered I was a natural at selling (let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to buy something from a 10-year-old!). By the time I was 12, I attended my first buying show in Burlington, and that’s when I really fell in love with retail.
My connection to greeting cards, though, is much more personal. When I was in 4th grade, I had surgery for a congenital condition and spent several weeks in the hospital. During that time, the cards I received…from family, classmates, friends, and even people I didn’t know, became my lifeline. I taped them all over my wall, and each day I waited for the mail delivery. Since I couldn’t get out of bed, those cards brought the outside world to me and lifted my spirits in a way nothing else could. That experience has stayed with me ever since and continues to shape how I think about the power and purpose of a greeting card.
What's something about you (a fun fact) that few people know?
I worked for a footwear company and had a few stints on QVC…horrifying!
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I’m really excited to be chairing the conference in Louisville this year. Having attended three conferences myself, I know how impactful they can be, but also how important it is to walk away feeling energized, inspired, and most importantly, equipped with real, actionable ideas you can actually use. That’s something I care deeply about. I want every attendee to feel like their time and investment truly mattered. These are challenging times for many of us, and because of that, it’s even more important that this year’s conference delivers on both sides…practical takeaways you can apply right away, and the kind of inspiration that reminds us why we love this industry in the first place. I’m looking forward to bringing everyone together and making this a meaningful experience.
